Signing Off: Final Thoughts

I have seen some of my classmates mention their favorite works we have read in class, so I decided to do the same for my final post.

Poetry:

-       My Papa’s Waltz

o   This poem is really dark and mysterious, but captivating

-       I wandered lonely as a cloud

o   I really like the rhythm and imagery in this poem

-       Barbie Doll

o   Very modern, and embodies feminine struggles with appearance

-       Sex Without Love

o   I liked the overall concept, not crazy on the religious focus though

-       On seeing the Elgin Marbles

o   Focuses on mortality, but is really beautifully written

-       The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock

o   This was just really wacky, but I enjoyed it

Fiction:

-       A&P

o   The concept of this one is just intriguing to me

-       Hills Like White Elephants

o   I liked the subtle nature of what is really going on

-       The Grasshopper and the Bell Cricket

o   This was very lighthearted and beautiful

-       The Yellow Wallpaper

o   This is really well written and interesting

-       Recitatif

o   I really like the concept of this story, and the main characters names

Plays:

-       Trifles

o   Really comedic watching men be oblivious

-       A Raisin in the Sun

o   Very emotional, although Walter Lee annoyed me a lot

This class was fun and interesting to take as a senior in my final semester. It is bittersweet ending my academic career. While I am nervous for what the future holds, I am very excited to never have to write an academic paper or do a class presentation again. Now it is time to move on to the next chapter and see what unfolds.
